Huntsman Introduces New Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) for Reinforcing Films

Huntsman has developed a new thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) for technical textile producers who make high-performance fabrics for outdoor apparel and other consumer and industrial applications

Irogran A 85 P 4394 HR TPU is a versatile elastomer that can be easily extruded and added to nylon and polyester materials to provide a protective, durable and waterproof layer
.

Added to fabrics as an extruded film, it can provide a highly durable surface and soft touch to clothing, such as raincoats
.

Due to their high tensile strength, extruded films made with TPU can help stretch and recover the materials they're used in -- increasing their useful life
.
The new material also has good abrasion and tear resistance, making it ideal for airbag applications, tension fabric manufacturing and industrial textile applications

Irogran A 85 P 4394 HR TPU also offers considerable processing advantages over conventional textile composite TPU
.
It has high melt strength, is very stable in the production process, and can withstand large forces in the melted and blown state, and the extruded film made with it is less likely to break during processing.

This enables manufacturers to increase production efficiency and reduce scrap rates, resulting in less waste and lower costs
