South Korea's Hyosung Group and Korea Cable Corporation will work together to make power plants intelligent through intelligent
cable monitoring systems using the latest technologies such as IoT and big data analysis solutions.
Hyosung Group announced that it has reached an agreement with Korea Cable to jointly develop a comprehensive power plant management solution
.
Under the contract, they will develop smart power cable systems that pre-monitor and detect any possible faults
through sensors connected to a 154 kV substation and a 22.
9 kV power cable.
Hyosung Group said the smart cable monitoring system will help prevent similar accidents such as the 2006 Jeju blackout and last year's power outage in Busan's new town district due to power
failures.
In addition, a group executive also revealed that the company will also launch an intelligent cable monitoring system
after the completion of development and implementation.
Hyosung's latest partnership with Korea Wire is part of its goal of innovating its business framework in the era of
the fourth industrial revolution.
Cho Hyun-joon, chairman of the Hyosung Group, said in his New Year's speech that data collection and analysis are becoming increasingly important in all areas, stressing that the group will change business platforms
based on information technology and important big data analytics.
