According to government sources, the Saudi Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) is preparing to tender 2,225 megawatts of solar
energy in 2019.
There will be 11 solar project tenders this year, the largest of which is the Alfaisalia project with a capacity of 600 MW
.
REPDO plans to bid for four more projects with an installed capacity of 300 MW, called Rabigh, Jeddah, Alras and Saad
.
The 2019 tender also includes six projects: Qurrayat with a capacity of 200 MW, another with the same name but with a capacity of 40 MW, Wadi Adwawser (70 MW), Madinah (50 MW), Rafha (45 MW), Mahad Dahab (20 MW).
The new tender plan for 2019 aims to include a portion of the 3.
3 GW of solar projects that failed to tender last year, with details to be announced
once new targets for solar and renewables are set.
Under the new Saudi Renewable Energy Strategy, the 2023 solar target has been raised from 5.

Through the first solar and wind tenders completed last year, REPDO allocated 700 MW of renewable energy generation capacity, including 400 MW of wind and 300 MW of solar, the latter including the Sakaka PV project

The project was awarded by Saudi energy company ACWA in February and recently raised $320 million in funding
from French financial service provider Natixis.
