Yang Chaobin, chief marketing officer of Huawei's wireless network product line, recently revealed that Huawei will invest 600 million US dollars in research and development of 5G technology in the next five years to achieve 5G standardization
.
This is the world's first telecom equipment manufacturer to officially propose large-scale investment
in 5G technology research and development.
5G will eventually realize a new interactive world of people-to-people connection, people-to-thing information exchange, and thing-to-thing connection, and the entry of industrial investment will accelerate this process and drive huge business opportunities
in all related industries.
The current 5G is still in the stage
of the industry jointly defining it.
According to the current description, compared with 4G, 5G not only has a higher transmission rate, but also presents the characteristics of low latency, high reliability and low power consumption in transmission, and low power consumption can better support Internet of Things applications
.
The data shows that 5G should transmit data 10 times to 100 times faster than 4G, and even up to 10GB/s
.
In fact, Huawei began working on 5G in 2009; 5G prototypes for 50Gbps base stations were demonstrated at the 2012 World Communications Show in Barcelona; In 2013, Huawei released a white paper on 5G vision and requirements.
During this year's MBBF Forum, Huawei announced a partnership with leading telecom operator MegaFon to provide 5G network coverage for the 2018 World Cup venues
.
Out of the importance of 5G, Yang Chaobin said that in the next five years, Huawei will invest another 600 million US dollars in 5G research and innovation, this 600 million US dollars is only research and innovation, and excluding 5G product development, when Huawei's entire 5G technology innovation research is completed and standardized, there will be a cost budget to participate in industrial development, and the productization budget will far exceed this amount
.
Xu Zhijun, Huawei's rotating CEO, also said that he will continue to increase investment in 5G, focus on core technology breakthroughs, and support the maturity of
Huawei's 5G industry.
Huawei will also work with the industry and various industries that may use our public network for connectivity to explore 5G requirements and promote the progress of the
5G industry.
