Jio, a telecommunications company owned by India's Reliance Industries, plans to deploy two submarine cable systems connecting Singapore and Europe to enable high-bandwidth connections to the western and eastern seaboards of the United States, thereby providing higher data transmission speeds
for Indian internet users.
"The two subsea systems will provide direct connectivity to top global content hubs, and the deployment will improve data availability
in India," an industry source revealed.

According to reports, the two submarine cable systems are IAX and IEX, of which IAX is connected to the west coast of the United States by connecting Mumbai, Chennai, Singapore, and connecting to the international submarine cable system in Singapore, IEX is connecting Mumbai and Europe, and connecting to the east coast
of the United States through the international submarine cable system in Europe.
The proposed subsea system will offer multiple connectivity options through multiple branches to expand connectivity to other Southeast Asian destinations, including the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East, North Africa and other parts
of the Indian Ocean, according to people familiar with the matter.
IAX and IEX systems will deliver more than 100 megabits (Tbps) of capacity at transfer speeds of
100 gigabits per second (Gbps).
According to the plan, the two cables will be put into use
within two years or early 2023.
