On October 13, China's Zangmu Hydropower Station located in the Brahmaputra River in Tibet was officially put into operation
.
Indonesia has complained about this, fearing that hydropower plants will affect the country's water supply
.
In 2013, an Indian expert group said the hydropower plants were built upstream of the river and should be further monitored
given their impact downstream.
The group said the hydropower stations were within 25 kilometers of each other, about 550 kilometers
from the Indian border.
Asked about India's concerns about the Zangmu hydropower station, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a regular press conference that China will fully consider the impact on the downstream region, and the two sides have maintained good communication
through the mechanism of expert-level meetings.
India has been engaging
with China on this issue.
The Indian side is concerned that if the current changes, some projects on the Brahmaputra River, especially in Arunachal Pradesh, may be affected
