ISOPA's Joerg Palmersheim told the FSK conference that the polyurethane industry could disappear from the EU if exposure standards for diisocyanates become too tight in the next few years
.
Joerg Palmersheim's warning follows ECHA's recent decision to investigate exposure limits to diisocyanates in the workplace
.
He publishes questionnaires across the EU at FSK events to obtain information on working practices across the industry
.
If the committee decides on that, perhaps by the end of 2020, there could be a storm in the industry, he told delegates
.
"If that limit is too low, it could mean that some processes cannot be used in the future," Palmersheim said,
noting that spray foam could cause casualties
.
'We're trying to avoid that, but it can be difficult,' he said
.
He said he assured delegates that the information would be anonymized and that ISOPA hopes to receive the forms by the end of 2019
