Shell and HTEC launched the first retail hydrogen refueling station in Canada Shell and Hydrogen Technology and Energy (HTEC) launched the first retail hydrogen refueling station
for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in Canada.
Located on Granville Street in Vancouver's Mabel area, the station is Canada's first retail hydrogen refueling station open to the public and one of
three replenishment stations planned by Shell and HTEC in Vancouver.
Oliver Bishop, General Manager of Shell Hydrogen, said: "We are excited to partner with HTEC before rolling out hydrogen refueling stations to other markets around the world, and we believe that hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles have the potential to be an important part of the low-carbon transportation system of
the future.
Shell plans to build more than 400 hydrogen refueling stations by 2023 and is currently evaluating the project's potential
for future development in the United States, Switzerland, Austria, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, China and the Netherlands.
Shell is also investing in new fuels that will need to meet the growing demands of transportation, reduce CO2 emissions, improve air quality, and respond to changing customer needs
in the coming decades.
