Qatar and Chevron to build ethylene and polyethylene plant Chevron Phillips Chemical Co.
, Ltd.
(CPCHEM) and Qatar Petroleum today announced the signing of an agreement to develop, build and operate a petrochemical plant
in Qatar to produce ethylene and high-density polyethylene
.

The plant, which will be developed in the Ras Lavan Industrial City, is expected to have 1.
9 million tons of ethane crackers and two high-density polyethylene derivatization units
with a total capacity of 1.
68 million tons.
Qatar Petroleum will own 70 percent of the joint venture and Chevron Phillips Chemical will own 30 percent
.
Engineering for the project is expected to start
by the end of 2025.
