Arkema's Jurong Island plant is about to be built
Recently, Arkema announced that the new plant on Jurong Island is expected to be operational in 2022, providing solutions for manufacturers looking for high-performance materials to help them design recyclable and sustainable products
.
Arkema has invested around EUR 450 million in the region, including investments
in downstream polyamide production capacity in China.
When the Jurong Island plant comes online, Arkema's Irsan capacity is expected to increase by 50%, helping to fill the gap between demand and supply in
Asia.
It is reported that the new plant will produce Rilsan series of high-performance bio-based polyamide materials
.
The material is made from castor oil, which has excellent flexibility, impact resistance, excellent chemical resistance, barrier and durability, as well as light specific gravity and moisture absorption, and is suitable for many emerging fields such as electric vehicles, 3D printing, electronics and consumer products, as well as sports and medical supplies
.
