Egypt has begun a new 1 million mt/year petrochemical plant project in Ain Sokhna, which is expected to cost about $7.

, the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Management (SCZone) said in a statement.

The plant, which will meet local market demand for petroleum and petrochemicals, as well as the production of polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester and marine fuels, is scheduled to start operations
in the first half of 2024.
