Issue 15/2019 - Clariant sells its healthcare packaging business

Clariant sells healthcare packaging business on July 22, Clariant announced that it has signed an agreement to sell its healthcare packaging business
to a newly formed subsidiary
of Arsenal Capital Partners.
The transaction is valued at approximately CHF 308 million and is due to the fourth quarter
of 2019.
Clariant's Healthcare Packaging business offers products for protecting pharmaceuticals from moisture and oxygen, including customizable, high-quality plug-in products (cans and packs), integrated desiccant systems and specially designed plastic bottles
containing oxygen insulation.

In addition, Clariant's Masterbatches business unit recently opened a regional packaging center at its manufacturing facility in Phan Thong County, Thailand, to provide additional support
to customers in the packaging industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
The center has a variety of advanced analytical equipment for testing the chemical
, mechanical, environmental stress cracking, antistatic and friction coefficient properties of packaging materials.
Production-grade processing machines include single- and multi-layer blown film, blow molding, cast film and injection molding related lines
.
The project has a team of formulation, process and analysis experts who have access to state-of-the-art analytical equipment, a wide range of processing instruments and Clariant's regional network
of application R&D laboratories.
The center is now operational and will continue to upgrade and add new equipment
in the first quarter of 2020.
