Mitsubishi Chemical
Plans to acquire a European carbon fiber recycling company
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) plans to acquire two German carbon fiber recycling companies, CFK Valley Staderecycling GmbH & Co.
KG (CFK) and carboNXT GmbH through its Zurich-based subsidiary Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials, as part of the company's efforts to drive a circular economy
。 The acquisition is scheduled to close
in early August.
It is reported that CFK has its own network to collect waste generated during the molding of intermediate materials, such as carbon fiber prepregs, mainly from customers in transportation-related industries, and to recycle these materials into usable carbon fiber forms
using its advanced patented technology.
carboNXT sells
these recycled products.
In addition, Mitsubishi Chemical acquired carbon fiber prepreg manufacturer c-m-p GmbH and engineering plastics recycling company Minger Group
.
With the latest acquisition, Mitsubishi Chemical will establish an industrial chain
in Europe from the manufacture of carbon fiber and carbon fiber composites to the collection and recycling of products, following Japan.
In the future, Mitsubishi Chemical will use recycled products as raw materials to provide customers with total solutions
including product recycling.
