Mitsui Chemicals expands production capacity of resins for EVs in Singapore
Mitsui Chemicals announced today that it will expand its production capacity
of resins for electric vehicles (EVs) in Singapore.
The company will build a new TAFMER resin production plant in Singapore, which will be completed in fiscal 2024 and has an estimated annual production capacity of 120,000 tons
.
As a result, Mitsui Chemicals' TAFMER production capacity in Singapore will reach 345,000 tons, an increase of about 50%.
According to Mitsui Chemicals, there is a growing
demand for automotive parts and materials related to solar cells in the Asian market.
The construction of the new plant in Singapore is Mitsui Chemicals' response
to this market expectation.
The amount of investment in the project has not been disclosed

According to Mitsui Chemicals, TAFMER is a next-generation resin improvement material that can improve the performance of
resin materials.
As a lightweight and easy-to-process flexible resin material, it can enhance the function of
food packaging films in addition to automotive parts.
Currently, the product is only produced
in Singapore and Japan.
