Issue 2023 - Successful development of recycled PCs with more than 90% recycled content

Samyang Corporation (Samyang), a subsidiary of Samyang Group's chemical and food businesses, announced that it has developed Korea's first eco-friendly polycarbonate (PC) with a post-consumer recycled polycarbonate (PCR PC) content of more than 90%.

Compared with ordinary PCs, the PCR PC developed this time can reduce CO2 emissions
by about 6,200 tons per 1,000 tons produced.
This is equivalent to the carbon emissions of 3,200 cars
.

Samyang Corporation has obtained Environmental Statement Verification (ECV) certification from Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a U.
S
.
safety standard-setting and certification agency.
Samyang Corporation plans to apply PCR PCs to small household appliances such as notebook computers first, and will expand the scope of application to electronics and indoor products
in the future.
It will also expand the range of applications of
PCR PC by applying it to various plastic resins such as acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT).
