Issue 23/2016 - Evonik to expand its PLGA polymer capacity

Evonik will expand its PLGA polymer production capacity Evonik has announced plans to increase capacity
at its Birmingham plant in Alabama, USA, and its Darmstadt plant in Germany
.
The move aims to expand production capacity
of RESOMER SELECT and RESOMER® SELECT biodegradable polymer products.

In addition to building a new building next to the existing building to expand production capacity, plans include adding a clean room and a laboratory to support polymer R&D projects
.
The plant is expected to be expanded and put into trial operation
by the end of 2018.
The Darmstadt plant will first add a new production line to increase production capacity, and then a second laboratory of its kind will be opened at the Darmstadt plant by the end of this year to provide customers with timely and reliable technical support and relevant training
in the field of medical materials.
