MF-Folien launches film products based on DSM's EcoPaXX
Royal DSM (DSM) today announced that its partner MF Folien has successfully produced a new polyamide film
using DSM's bio-based polyamide EcoPaXX PA410 material.
Bio-based polyamide EcoPaXX PA410 film has the characteristics of
high toughness, high transparency and puncture resistance.
Compared to polyamide PA6 films, the product has lower moisture permeability and the same excellent oxygen barrier properties
.
Especially in high humidity environments, bio-based polyamide PA410 has higher
oxygen barrier properties.
As the world's leading producer of polyamide films, MF Folien has been DSM's development partner
since the beginning of the development of EcoPaXX films.
In 2011, the company pioneered the use of EcoPaXX to manufacture 30 micron cast film samples of quality comparable to MF
Folien's well-known film products.
EcoPaXX can produce film products of different thicknesses (30/40/50 microns) for flexible food packaging, construction, medical, aviation and shipping
.
Recently, three EcoPaXX products were selected as USDA certified bio-based products, indicating that their bio-based content meets the certification standard (approximately 70%)
.
The bio-based composition of the bio-based polyamide EcoPaXX PA410 is derived from castor oil, which is produced in the tropics of non-grain producing areas, and the carbon dioxide absorbed during the growth of castor beans completely offsets
the carbon dioxide released during the production of chemical polymers.
