To meet the demand for anti-rain marks in Asia-Pacific coatings and make facades as clean as new, BASF has developed an innovative EC-Lock technology for the new Acronal®PLUS 7018 polymer dispersion, which reduces rain marks and improves color retention
.
The main cause of rain marks is the migration
of soluble hydrophilic components in the coating.
With conventional paints, water molecules such as rain dissolve the hydrophilic components of the coating film and carry them to the surface of the coating, causing rain marks
.
BASF's EC-Lock technology improves the water resistance of early coating films and significantly avoids rain marks by
self-crosslinking the inside of the coating molecules and minimizing water penetration.
To achieve "near-zero" deep rain mark resistance, BASF also launched a combined solution using EC-Lock+ technology – Acronal®PLUS 7018 polymer dispersion + Dispex®CX 4231 dispersion
.
Its excellent hydrophobicity reduces film water absorption and prevents hydrophilic components from migrating to the surface, thus minimizing the formation of rain marks and keeping the coating color as new
for a long time.
"As a pioneer in architectural coatings, BASF has developed a new anti-rain mark solution that significantly improves the aesthetics
of exterior paints," said Zhicheng Yung, Regional Head of Construction Polymer Dispersions, BASF Asia Pacific.
Our innovative technologies allow people to confidently use beautiful, dark coatings on residential and commercial building surfaces without worrying about rain marks
