Chemtura offers adhesive layer resins with more than 95% renewable content
Addivant, a subsidiary of Chemtura, has introduced two Polybond functionalized polymers
with more than 95% renewable content that can be used as adhesive layers in multilayer thermoplastic applications, such as tubing.
The two polymer varieties, called Polybond 6009 and 6029, do not use petroleum-based feedstocks and contain greater than 95% renewable feedstocks, which can be used as coupling agents or compatibilizers and as adhesive layers
in coextrusion applications requiring high regeneration content.
Addivant points to the growing trend of biopolymers enhanced with natural fibers such as rice husk, wood, flax or hemp as an opportunity
for Polyband polymer modifiers derived from renewable resources.
Due to the polar and non-polar components in the formulation, Polyband grades of biopolymer compounds exhibit enhanced mechanical and physical properties
