Cabot Norit launches activated charcoal for sweeteners
Cabot has announced the launch of PURITTM activated carbon products
for sweeteners.
PURIT products from Cabot Norite Activated Carbon offer superior filtration, decolorization and deodorization properties, removing taste-affecting and odor-producing compounds
from syrups used in soft drinks and other beverages.
This new multi-media filtration product offers better filtration performance, enabling customers to significantly reduce the operating costs of the purification process and has a lower
environmental impact than conventional treatment methods.
PUIT products are dust-free powder multi-media filtration products for food purification applications including liquid sugars, starch sweeteners, artificial sweeteners and other liquid processes that benefit from longer cycle times
due to improved filterability.
Other advantages of this product include: easy deturbidity, decolorization, and deodorization in one step; Dust-free products reduce maintenance costs; Reduced pressure drop and longer cycle times reduce operating costs; Reduce the number of filter changes, reduce labor and energy costs; Increased yield, thereby reducing the volume production cost
of sugar.
Friedrich von Gottberg, senior vice president and global president of purification solutions, said: "The PULET product is Cabot's first multi-media activated carbon product
.
It exceeded our expectations for activated carbon multi-media filtration and outperformed the competition, striking a good balance between filtration and decolorization, which is a key element of
performance.
