    Recently, the Port of Rotterdam Authority (POR) in the Netherlands, the Zaandam Koole Terminal in the Netherlands, the Yokohama Chiyoda Company and Mitsubishi Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to use Chiyoda's SPERA hydrogen storage and transportation technology to Rotterdam.

    According to the memorandum of understanding, Mitsubishi will be responsible for building the hydrogen business value chain; the Port of Rotterdam Authority will provide matching services for major hydrogen end users in northwestern Europe and competitive overseas hydrogen suppliers; Koole Terminal will conduct research on its terminal facilities, and Provide transportation support to end users

    In May 2020, the Port of Rotterdam Authority announced its hydrogen vision.
    Its goal is to develop a green hydrogen supply chain for Northwest Europe and become a hydrogen import hub.
    It plans to import 100,000 to 200,000 tons of hydrogen annually by 2025 and by 2030 Import 300,000 to 400,000 tons of hydrogen each year

    In 2020, Chiyoda, Mitsubishi, Mitsui and Nippon Yusen Company completed a long-distance hydrogen transportation and storage demonstration project using Chiyoda’s SPERA technology to produce methylcyclohexane (MCH) in Brunei, transport it to Japan, and then Ship toluene back to Brunei
