On December 8, a Japanese media outlet reported that Japan would prepare to build India's first bullet train
after Tokyo raised $8 billion to New Delhi.
The two countries will issue a joint statement unveiling the plans
reached during a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to India on Saturday.
It is reported that the high-speed rail train will connect the two cities
of Mumbai and Ahmedabad in India.
However, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun did not disclose the source of
the above information.
Earlier this year, Japan lost a bid with China for Indonesia's high-speed rail plan

Japanese officials say the plan with India is the second successful export after Japan exported its bullet train technology to Taiwan in 2007

Two officials from Japan's trade and transport ministries confirmed to AFP with restraint the contents of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun report, saying the Japanese government was "doing its utmost to advance the agreement.
