announced in a joint statement on Friday that their joint venture has ordered a liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessel
from Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KWHIY).
The LNG bunkering vessel, which will be delivered between September and December 2020, will be Japan's first LNG bunkering vessel
, the four companies said in a statement.
The four companies plan to start supplying LNG
as fuel to passing ships in the central region of Central Japan.
In order to meet the new international standards for sulphur emissions by the 2020 deadline, LNG is considered as an alternative fuel for marine fuel
oil for shipping companies.
