European submarine cable manufacturer JDR has been awarded a contract from Parkwind to supply, test and terminate 33kV submarine cables
for the Arcadis Ost 1 offshore wind farm in Germany.
The company will supply 45 km of 33 kV array cables
connecting 27 wind turbines.
It will also provide technicians, tools, and test equipment
for the testing and termination of array cables.
Due to its strong technical capabilities and extensive offshore experience, JDR won the contract
through competitive tendering.
The project is located about 19 km northeast of the island of Rügen in the federal state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and has an installed capacity of 257 MW
.
The wind farm will be Parkwind's fifth wind farm and will manage more than 1GW
of operating capacity.
By contracting with JDR for cable supply as well as termination and test work, Parkwind will benefit from continuity throughout the project, from manufacturing to installation, ensuring cable integrity, through final commissioning and grid
connection.
The cables will be manufactured at JDR's state-of-the-art facility in Hartlepool, where cable installation contractors will pick up their goods and install them
in Germany in 2022.
