Recently, the Indian government has set an ambitious target for JNPT to increase solar power capacity by 100,000 MW by 2022 to promote clean energy and reduce dependence
    on oil and diesel.

    JNPT has modestly contributed
to this event in its own way by installing solar panels in its facilities.
The port has installed solar panels on several rooftops of its townships and commercial buildings to generate solar energy and reduce dependence
    on traditional energy sources.
    The move was subsidized
by 15% from the Solar Energy Corporation of India, part of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

The total capacity of the project can produce 822 kW of power
    at peak performance.

The chairman of the JNPT said, "The generation of clean energy and the reduction of polluting energy consumption are the needs of
    the times.
India offers a good opportunity to generate alternative green energy and JNPT is keen to generate maximum solar energy for it and reduce dependence
on traditional energy sources as much as possible.
