K 2019: SABIC focuses on certification cycle solutions

At the K 2019 exhibition, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) will focus on the theme of "Making a World of Difference Together", focusing on the industrial chain collaboration created for sustainable developme.

Among them, certified circular polymers produced from pyrolysis oil feedstocks recycled from mixed plastic waste will be one of the highligh.

It is reported that SABIC is using raw materials made from mixed plastic waste to produce certified circular polymers at its production site in Geleen, the Netherlan.

This recycled polymer requires SABIC to work collaboratively with its upstream and downstream suppliers and customers to recycle high-quality mixed plastic waste into raw polymer for high-quality applications, thereby realizing the recycling of the earth's natural resourc.

SABIC to showcase certified advanced circulation solutions at K 2019

Currently, certified circular polymers are supplied to leading brand customers, including Unilever, Tupperware, Vinventions and the Walki Group, for the development of advanced, high-quality, safe consumer or food, beverage and personal care packagi.

Frank Kuijpers, General Manager of Sustainability at SABIC, explained: “While physical (mechanical) recycling methods contribute to recycling, there are limits to how quickly physical (mechanical) recycling can economically recover plastic packaging was.

These polymers are certified through the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification+ (ISCC+) schemes, which certify renewable material content and standards across the value chain from feedstock to final produ.

Release of Sustainable Development Goals Roadmap

        SABIC has also released a sustainability roadmap in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), outlining ambitious goals related to resource efficiency, climate change, circular economy, food security, sustainable infrastructure and environmental protecti.

        SABIC's "Sustainability Roadmap 2019" is part of the company's 2025 strategy, supporting its overall sustainability plan covering the entire value chain of the organizati.

        The roadmap not only articulates SABIC's holistic approach to sustainability, but also outlines the company's incentives for new initiatives that will make a significant contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and provide businesses with opportunities for grow.
