Recently, Ultium Cells, a joint venture between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors, announced that it will invest more than US$2.
3 billion to build a second battery plant in the United States
.

The facility will be built in Spring Hill, Tennessee, and is scheduled to open at the end of 2023.

Mary Barra, chairman and chief executive officer of General Motors, said: "Our construction of our second Ultium battery plant in the United States is another major step in our transition to an all-electric future

It is reported that the first electric vehicle battery production plant jointly established by General Motors and LG Chem is under construction in Lordstown, Ohio, and is expected to be completed in 2022
