LyondellBasell delays commissioning of new US PO/TBA project to first quarter of next year

LyondellBasell Industries said it has delayed the start-up of its propylene oxide (PO) and tertiary butanol (TBA) projects to 2023, according to ICIS Houston, July 29.

Ryan Mann, LyondellBasell's executive vice president for intermediates, derivatives and refining, said on a second-quarter earnings call that the project was nearing completion

The project is divided into two parts

Ryanmann said LyondellBasell Industries has completed the assembly of the ether production unit and has begun commissioning the unit

Commissioning of the PO/TBA plant will begin in the fourth quarter of 2022

In the first year of operation after commissioning, LyondellBasell Industries expects production to reach 50% of annual production capacity
