Maguire Europe has announced that it will showcase an innovative wire and cable extrusion control system that provides precise meter weight control, improved product integrity and reduce operating costs
.
Maguire + Syncro extrusion control systems can be applied to extrusion or co-extrusion operations and installed into new or refurbished equipment
.
Ratio control provides accurate dimensions for multiple cable jacket layers or identification stripes during coextrusion
.
There are three basic components in the Maguire + Syncro system:
1) WXB Weighing Extrusion Mixer, which combines a Gain in Weight (GIW) weigh chamber and a Loss in Weight (LIW) mixing chamber
.
2) Maguire 4088 controller, which controls the loading, mixing and metering of raw materials during extrusion; and
3) Syncro controller, which uses consumption data from the 4088 controller and downstream encoders to adjust line speed and traction
.

The Maguire + Syncro system was created by Maguire in partnership with Italy-based Syncro srl in 2016, when Maguire invested in Syncro, a company specializing in controllers for various extrusion processes
.
Syncro components used in wire and cable extrusion control systems include a main PLC touch screen controller, a digital encoder and a tachometer, and a co-extrusion interface (one per layer) that provides polymer consumption data, these Data from each individual dispenser on the Maguire WXB mixer
.
Since color is a key factor for branding and coding identification in wire and cable, Maguire also offers MGF gravimetric feeders that accurately measure the amount of additive fed directly into the extruder hopper throat
