Nanovia is joining a fishing net recycling project in Brittany, France, to manufacture PA6 (polyamide-6) filaments for thermoplastic extrusion 3D printing
    .
In 2019, Guingamp-Paimpol Agglomération started working on a new solution to the problem in order to get rid of the burial disposal of used fishing nets in the port, in order to reintegrate these materials into the circular economy

    .
In 2020, Coopération Maritime launched their RECYPECH project, which aims to optimize the disposal and treatment of waste generated by the industrial fishing sector

    .

By insisting on the former, Guingamp-Paimpol Agglomération, with the support of the CCI des Côtes d'Armor and Lannion Trégor Agglomération, began to collect these discarded fishing nets on its territory and to dispose of them in Plurives by ESATCO, a service for disabled workers center
    .
USAT CO has previous experience in collecting and dismantling used fishing nets in the center of Oleron Island, they will separate the different parts of the fishing nets (metal rings, ropes/residues, nylon nets) and transport them to the appropriate recycling department

    .

The separated nylon nets (polyamide-6) will be sent to Fil&Fab, a company based in Plougonvelin on the west coast of Breton, which since 2015 has specialized in converting old west coast fishing nets into pure plastic pellets
    .

Nanovia will use the pellets at Louargat, where it will convert them into 3D printer filament, expanding the range of recycled products, which will include two black filaments (1.
    75mm and 2.
    85mm)

    .
The first, Nanovia PA-6 R, uses virgin nylon

    .
The second is Nanovia PA-6 CF R, nylon filament reinforced with recycled carbon fiber from the aerospace industry and fluid distribution

    .
The filaments will be in commercial use by the end of 2021
