Researchers in my country have proposed a technology that uses supercritical carbon dioxide to extract shale gas, which can improve the recovery rate of shale gas and complete the underground storage of carbon dioxide gas, which helps to achieve carbon neutrality in the mining process.
According to Lu Yiyu, director of the State Key Laboratory of Coal Mine Disaster Dynamics and Control of Chongqing University, currently international shale gas mining mainly uses hydraulic fracturing technology, and a single shale gas well consumes more than 15,000 tons of water.
In response to these problems, Lu Yiyu’s research team launched scientific research on the basis of supercritical carbon dioxide, which has the characteristics of low viscosity, high diffusibility and high density of liquids, and proposed "supercritical carbon dioxide to enhance the efficient development of unconventional natural gas and geological storage integration.
At present, Lu Yiyu's research team is cooperating with enterprises to carry out supercritical carbon dioxide fracturing field tests in Yan'an National Terrestrial Shale Gas Demonstration Zone of Yan'an Petroleum, which has achieved complete success.
