RTE France has signed a power cable order with Nexans to supply and install 67 km of submarine output cables and 93 km of land output cables
for its Saint Brieuc offshore wind farm in the English Channel.

According to reports, the Saint Brieuc offshore wind farm is located in the English Channel, about 16 kilometers from the coast of Saint Brieuc Bay, with an installed capacity of about 496 megawatts, which will meet the electricity needs
    of 835,000 households after completion.
    It is also one of
the largest commercial offshore wind farms in France.
Its successful commissioning will play an important role
in France's response to climate change.

The consortium of the wind farm project has been awarded 500 MW of transmission capacity by the French government, and the French grid operator RTE is responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of two 225 kV cable systems (submarine and land) to connect the offshore wind farm to the grid
    .

In the submarine cable segment, Nexans will supply a 225 kV three-core submarine cable with a highlight length of 33.
5 km and an innovative hybrid armored solution
    .
That is, the cable also has a fiber optic element that can be used to remotely monitor the operation of the cable route and the information between the offshore wind farm and the
    land connection.

    The cable will be installed
by the Nexans laying vessel CS Skagerrak.
At the same time, Nexans will also be responsible for inspection, maintenance and other services
    for the offshore part.
In addition, Nexans will also provide 93 km of 225 kV single-core land cables to connect to the land grid after the submarine cable landings
    .

Nexans said the project is the first offshore wind farm connection
    Nexans has provided to EDF.
Nexans' Halden plant in Norway will be responsible for the production of submarine cables, the Benelux plant in Belgium will be responsible for the production of land cables, and the installation of optical fiber components will be supplied
by Nexans' Rognan plant in Norway.

Cable laying is expected to begin
    in 2022.
