According to offshore energy news on June 4th, Sinopec News: Recently, Russia's Novatek and Severstal signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on hydrogen energy cooperation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The purpose of the memorandum of understanding signed by the two parties is to implement a joint pilot project on the production, transportation, storage and use of blue hydrogen.
The two companies intend to jointly develop hydrogen transportation pipelines, hydrogen storage systems and hydrogen transportation tank manufacturing and supply solutions, capture and use carbon dioxide, and use hydrogen in metallurgical production.
They also agreed to cooperate in the development of technical solutions based on hydrogen and its carriers, especially ammonia-based fuel types.
Leonid Mikhelson, Chairman of Novatek’s Management Committee, said: “Steel producers are one of the largest industrial consumers of natural gas, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a new prospect for our mutually beneficial cooperation.

Novatek and Severstal collaborate on hydrogen energy
Russia's Novatek and Severstal have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate on hydrogen energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The MoU is signed to provide for the implementation of a joint pilot project for the production, transportation, storage, and use of “blue” hydrogen.
The companies intend to jointly develop solutions for the manufacturing and supply of hydrogen transport pipelines, hydrogen storage systems, and hydrogen transport tanks, capturing and utilising CO2 as well as using hydrogen in metallurgical production.
They also agreed to cooperate in the development of technological solutions for the use of fuel types based on hydrogen and its carriers, specifically ammonia.
