China will start three new large-scale steam crackers in August , which will increase the demand for petrochemical raw materials such as naphtha and LPG.

According to market participants, the Bora-Leondel Basel, a 50:50 joint venture between the global petrochemical company Lyondell Basel and Liao Bora, began trial operation on its steam cracker on July 27.
The cracking unit is located in Panjin City, Liaoning Province, Northeast China, with an annual production capacity of 1.
The company plans to start downstream PE and PP units and cracking units at the initial stage, fed by purchased ethylene and propylene.
Bora-Leander Basel’s new cracker will partially use commercial propane.
The joint venture’s sales agreement requires Polaris to sell LLDPE and styrene, while LyondellBasell will sell HDPE and PP.
The other two cracking units are scheduled to start production in August.
Sinochem, also a state-owned holding company, now plans to start its Quanzhou naphtha cracker at the end of August.
Sinopec Zhanjiang will purchase liquefied petroleum gas for its new cracking unit, while Sinochem will purchase liquefied petroleum gas from the Quanzhou refinery.
