According to the ICIS-MRC website on September 8, Moscow MRC reported that Chemweek stated that Lukoil (Moscow, Russia) has selected Lummus Technologies ' Novolen polypropylene ( PP ) technology for the previously announced Kstovo, Russia (Kstovo)'s new petrochemical facility.
Technical PP
Lummus said that its Novolen business has won a contract from Rosneft to provide technical licenses for the company's 500,000-ton/year PP production unit, as well as basic design engineering, training and services, and catalyst supply.
Leon de Bruyn, President and CEO of Lummus Technologies, stated that Russia is "an important market that Lummus has been strong for decades," and the company will continue to expand in Russia.
According to Lummus, the contract increases the total number of licenses for Novolen technology worldwide to 17 million tons per year.
Lukoil made an investment decision in mid-2019 to continue building a PP plant at the existing Kstovo refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
According to MRC's ScanPlast, the total PP output of the Russian plant increased to 158,800 tons in July, compared with 149,400 tons a month ago.
