The relationship between Canada and plastic waste has fundamentally changed: the introduction of the Canadian Plastics Convention (CPP) will speed up the resolution of plastic waste and pollution.

More than 40 partners have joined CPP, and they represent different parts of the plastics value chain, from leading brands to waste management companies, government agencies and non-governmental organizations.

Canada is the latest country to join the Allen MacArthur Foundation Plastics Pact Network (a global organization dealing with plastic waste and pollution), a non-governmental organization for the circular economy.
In line with its vision of a plastic circular economy, CPP promotes innovation and knowledge sharing, and promotes cooperative actions and solutions for the country’s unique needs and challenges.
Sonja Wegge, Project Manager of the Plastics Convention of the Allen MacArthur Foundation, said: “By setting clear goals for 2025 and working together to achieve these goals, companies and policy makers who have joined the CPP are taking steps on the road to the plastics circular economy.

In order to achieve the goal of 2025, the next direct step of CPP is to develop a roadmap for action.
