Postoperative bacterial infection of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) medical implants remains a difficult clinical problem

Recently, Deng Yi's team from the School of Chemical Engineering of Sichuan University, based on the previous research on medical special PEEK polymer implants and surface interfaces, developed a new kind of two-dimensional emerging MXene nanosheets and one-dimensional cobalt nanowires for the above key scientific issues.

The photothermal and photodynamic effects of Ti3C2/CoNWs coating triggered by near-infrared light can kill Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus/Gram-negative Escherichia coli within 20 minutes, achieving more than 90% antibacterial effect (Figure 2)
