PPG and the PPG Foundation to commit $13.3 million to global philanthropy in 2021

PITTSBURGH, United States--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced that PPG and the PPG Foundation will invest a combined $13.
3 million in 2021 to meet community needs in the U.
S.
and other countries around the world

These funds support more than 500 projects, focusing on education, social equity, racial equality, and sustainable community development

Important community projects that PPG and the PPG Foundation will be involved in in 2021, including

$6.
6 million to develop a diverse and innovative new generation of STEM leaders
.
The PPG Foundation, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Promise, offers higher education scholarships focused on developing a prepared, diverse regional workforce
.
In Milan, Italy, PPG has partnered with the National Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Technology to build a state-of-the-art interactive laboratory for projects such as a color-based chemistry workshop
.
Through these programs and many more in the future, PPG hopes to focus on funding study and career opportunities in STEM fields; creating conditions for young women to explore scientific studies and meet female role models in STEM fields; and building relationships with leading universities Partnerships, working together to build a diverse STEM talent pipeline
.

A total of $20 million through 2025 to support programs in the black community and people of color in the United States, a goal that is now 37 percent complete
.
The PPG Foundation intensifies its efforts to provide educational resources to the Black community, people of color, and others who have historically been underappreciated
.
Through programs such as the STEM Coding Lab Summer Camp, CS Explorers, and Michigan Science Center Interpreters, PPG strives to inspire students to explore and discover, helping them understand the connection between STEM thinking and real-life innovation and careers
.
The PPG Foundation also partners with professional organizations, including the National Association of Black MBAs and the National Society of Black Engineers, to support diverse students in advanced STEM research programs

9 million to support community transformation, basic needs and social justice: In some parts of the world facing unforeseen natural disasters and pandemic crises, others are struggling to recover from them, in this case PPG and PPG The Foundation strongly supports their basic needs and community rebuilding projects

Some of the emergency relief projects include: working with the American Red Cross to support local emergency relief and recovery efforts after Hurricane Ida; working with Diecézní Charita Brno for an F4 in South Moravia, Czech Republic financial aid and support following a tornado; and a partnership with charity Give2Asia to provide funds to help five hospitals in India procure emergency equipment during the outbreak of the coronavirus variant, Delta

56 "Colorful Communities" projects completed in 17 countries in 2021: Since 2015, PPG has completed 386 "Colorful Communities" projects globally
.
Over the past six years, more than 18,000 employees and community volunteers have used PPG coatings to bring color and brightness to communities in 42 countries, positively impacting more than 7.
4 million people

Throughout 2021, the Colorful Communities project will focus on removing the heavy learning challenges caused by the pandemic, using color to create effective learning environments and positive educational experiences for students around the world

PPG's Employee Resource Network in the United States also works with like-minded organizations to transform diverse community spaces

Luis Muñoz Marín Bilingual Academy in Cleveland, Ohio: PPG volunteers preach courage and creativity through bright colors and vivid murals, helping students rejuvenate as they return to classrooms after more than a year of remote learning

PPG Stiwewa Community Centre, Winti Wai, Suriname: PPG employees helped paint the interior and exterior walls of the PPG Stiwewa Community Centre and painted murals
.
Located near the PPG production site, the building's purpose is to provide social support to local residents, including education and employment assistance for young people, as well as fun entertainment programs for everyone
.

Instituto Eurípedes, Araraquara, Brazil: At this educational center for disadvantaged children and families, PPG helped paint two buildings, a colorful mural, classrooms, and a sports field
.
Since the start of the pandemic, the centre has continued to offer learning programmes for children and young people, while supporting around 200 families
.
PPG volunteers also plan to interact with the center's children, including activities to paint flower pots
.

Three Elementary Schools in the Philippines: PPG volunteers in the Philippines continued to work with the GMA Kapuso Foundation to support restoration efforts at Mabini Elementary School in Catanduanes Province and Abariongan Uneg and Calassitan Elementary Schools in Cagayan Province
