On May 31, Japanese producer Prime Polymer said it was building a new production facility with an annual output of 200,000 tons of PP at its production site in Ichihara
.
Construction on the facility will begin in August 2021, with operations scheduled to begin in November 2024, the company said in a statement
.
Financial details of the project were not disclosed
.
The new PP facility will use technology licensed from Japan's Mitsui Chemicals
.
"The new production facility will enable the production of high-performance PP, hitherto not possible using this facility, and enable Prime Polymer to meet the growing demand for lightweighting and thinning of automotive materials," the company said
