Lactic acid is also known as a-hydroxypropionic acid, 2-hydroxypropionic acid, and propanoic acid .
    The molecular formula is C 3 H 6 O 3 , the molecular weight is 90.
08, and the structural formula is

Since there is a chiral carbon in the molecule, it has enantiomers
    .

    1.

    Product performance

Colorless or light yellow viscous liquid, odorless
    .

The melting point of the right-handed body and the left-handed body is 53°C, and the melting point of the racemic body is 18°C

Industrial lactic acid is a mixture of 2-hydroxypropionic acid, lactoyl lactic acid and water
    .

    Production principle

    1) Fermentation method

Grain is used as raw material, saccharified with milk bacteria, fermented for 3 to 4 days at pH 5 and temperature 49 ℃, neutralized with calcium carbonate, filtered while hot, and refined to obtain calcium lactate
    .

Then it is acidified with sulfuric acid for metathesis reaction, and then filtered to remove calcium sulfate, concentrated under reduced pressure, and decolorized while hot to obtain the finished product

    2) Acrylonitrile method

The lactonitrile obtained by hydration of acrylonitrile reacts with sulfuric acid to generate crude lactic acid, and then reacts with methanol to generate methyl lactate, which is distilled to obtain refined ester, and the refined ester is heated and decomposed to obtain lactic acid
    .

    3) Acetaldehyde hydrocyanic acid method

Acetaldehyde reacts with hydrocyanic acid to form lactonitrile, which is then hydrolyzed to obtain crude lactic acid
    .

Crude lactic acid and ethanol are esterified to produce lactate, which is then hydrolyzed to lactic acid
