Naphthylacetic acid (naphthylacetic acid) is also known as 1-naphthylacetic acid and a- forbidden acetic acid.
    The molecular formula is C 12 H 10 O 2 , the molecular weight is 186.
21, and the structural formula is

    1.

    Product performance

White needle-like crystal or crystalline powder; odorless, moderately toxic; soluble in hot water, ether , acetone , chloroform and alkali solution, slightly soluble in cold water; melting point 134.
    5~135.
    5℃
    .

    2.
    Production principle

Refined naphthalene is prepared by condensation with chloroacetic acid under the catalysis of aluminum powder
    .

    Technical formula (kg/t)

    5.

    Main equipment

Condensation reactor, acidification pot, storage tank, recrystallization pot, filter, drying box
    .

    6.
    Production process

Put chloroacetic acid and refined naphthalene into the condensation reaction kettle, add aluminum powder with a purity of 99.
8%, and heat to 240-250°C to make the reaction boil for about 9h
    .

The HCl released by the reaction is absorbed by water to produce hydrochloric acid as a by-product

    7.
    Laboratory preparation method

In a three-necked flask, add 750 mL of methanol , 240 mL of water, and 175 g of sodium cyanide , and after the mixture is uniform, add 350 g of a-chloromethyl naphthalene
    .

Stir at room temperature for 6 minutes, and then heat to reflux for 2 hours

In another reaction flask, add 750 mL of 72% acetic acid and 48 mL of 87% sulfuric acid, and heat to boiling
    .

Mix 340g crude a-naphthaleneacetonitrile with 750mL 72% acetic acid as a suspension, and slowly add it to the reaction flask, keeping the temperature above 100%

    9.

    Product use

Used in the pharmaceutical industry and organic synthesis
    .

In agriculture, it is used for accelerating germination and growth, and it is also used to protect cotton buds and bolls
    .
Its sodium salt is a plant growth stimulant
    .

    10.
    Security measures

    (1) The raw material naphthalene is poisonous, and the maximum allowable concentration in the workplace is 0.
    001%
    .
Chloroacetic acid is extremely toxic, with an oral LD 50 of 76 mg/kg in rats, which is highly irritating and corrosive
    .
Condensation equipment should be airtight, operators should wear labor protection equipment, and strengthen ventilation in the workshop
    .

    (2) Packed in woven bags lined with plastic bags, and stored in a cool and dry place
    .
Store and transport in accordance with drug regulations
