Prysmian Group, a global leader in the energy and telecommunications cable systems industry, has secured two contracts worth around €250 million from Red Eléctrica, the Spanish grid transmission system operator, for the development of two projects: an undersea power interconnection between Tenerife and La Gomera and another submarine power interconnection
between mainland Spain and Ceuta, a Spanish city on the north coast.

Prysmian will provide its comprehensive turnkey solution for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of 66KV HVAC (High Voltage Alternating Current) dual-circuit, three-core submarine power cable technology with EPR insulation and synthetic wire armor to connect Tenerife and La Gomera at a world record depth of nearly 1150m using 66KV three-core cable and another 132KV HVAC dual-circuit three-core XLPE insulated and synthetic wire armored submarine power cable, By connecting mainland Spain and the Strait of Gibraltar, the maximum depth is 900m
    .

Both systems include 90 km of submarine routes and about 11 km of land routes for the dual connection
    between mainland Spain and Ceuta.

Submarine cables will be manufactured at the Nordheim plant (Germany) and the Pikara plant (Finland), which are the Group's centres
of excellence for submarine cable technology and manufacturing.
The overland cable will be produced
at the Group's local Biranova (Spain) plant.

Offshore operations will be carried out
using Prysmian's own cable-laying vessel (Giulio Verne).
The commissioning of the two cable systems is scheduled for 2025
    .

Hakan Ozmen, Executive Vice President, Projects at Prysmian Group, said: "We are proud to support Spain in achieving its energy transition goals by 2030 by providing our state-of-the-art submarine and terrestrial cable systems
