From September 21st to 25th, 2014 European Optical Fiber Communication Exhibition will be held
in Cannes, France.
Prysmian Group, a global leader in the energy and communications cable and systems industry, will be showcasing its original WideCap-OM4 multi-module fiber at
the exhibition.
Prysmian has developed a new OM4 multi-module fiber
optimized for multi-wavelength systems.
WideCap-OM4 multi-module fiber delivers OM4 performance in an 850-950nm window while maintaining compatibility
with universal laser-optimized multi-module fibers.
Traditional OM4 fiber provides high bandwidth
in a narrow band with a center of 850 nm.
To meet the exponentially growing information needs of the information center, the capacity of the WideCap-OM4 has been expanded to a longer wavelength
of 950 nm.
WideCap-OM4 and multi-wavelength systems are viable solutions for 40/100/400Gbps
transmissions.
The WideCap-OM4 incorporates BendBright® technology to deliver enhanced large flexural performance
.
"WideCap-OM4 is the first multi-module fiber optimized for multi-wavelength systems, extending the operating window of traditional OM4 fibers to 950 nanometers
.
The WideCap-OM4 multi-module fiber allows transmission in 4 channels in a 100nm window
.
This product is a prime example
of our commitment to advancing multi-module fiber.
Marco van Dongen, Prysmian's Director of Fiber Marketing, said, "This advanced fiber combined with multi-wavelength transceivers is likely to be used in high-performance data centers
with 40/100/400Gbps in the future.
" ”
The new WideCap-OM4 multi-module fibre will be produced
at Prysmian's Eindhoven facility in the Netherlands.
The plant is Prysmian's manufacturing centre of excellence for multi-module fibres and the largest in the world to produce such
fibres.
