Recently, Thailand's PTT Global Chemicals (PTTGC) announced that the company is planning to build a plastic recycling plant in the United States.
The location of the project will be announced soon, and the final investment decision will be made by the end of the year
.
At present, PTTGC has not released details of the recycling process technology to be used or the project cost
.
PTTGC has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Rumpke Waste & Recycling, a company based in Cincinnati, Ohio, that will provide bales of waste plastics if the project is implemented
.
Additionally, Rumpke announced in February plans to build a $50 million facility to process recyclable municipal waste in Columbus, Ohio, that will begin operations in 2024
.
PTTGC's announcement made no mention of its ethylene and derivatives projects in Belmont, Ohio, but the recycling plant is believed to be in Ohio
.
"As Ohio's leader in municipal waste recycling, we are always looking for new end users for our merchandise," said Jeff Snyder, director of recycling at Rumpke Corporation
