ROHM Chemicals plans to renovate and expand Shanghai MMA, PMMA and other facilities

Recently, the Shanghai Bureau of Ecology and Environment has accepted the environmental impact assessment of the "ROHM Chemical (Shanghai) Co.
, Ltd.
Reconstruction and Expansion Project", and the publicity period of the environmental assessment is from December 21, 2021 to January 4, 2022
.
It is reported that in response to changes in the raw material and product market, ROHM Chemicals plans to carry out technical transformation or capacity expansion of multiple production units in the entire plant.
Increase the production process; only the BUMA plant technical renovation adds new product types, and the rest of the plant product types are the same as the existing projects
.

The EIA mainly involves the installation and construction content as follows:

(1) MMA plant raw material diversification project

In recent years, the MTBE factory has not been able to reach production due to the limitation of the supply of C4 raw materials by upstream SECCO, resulting in insufficient production load of the MMA plant
.
In order to meet the needs of downstream devices and customers for MMA products, ROHM plans to carry out technical transformation of the existing MMA equipment, directly purchase part of the MMA from the market, and transport it to the existing MMA equipment rectification tower for processing, and the production will meet ROHM specifications.
The required MMA can achieve the purpose of producing MMA products through different raw materials

(2) Product upgrading and transformation project of methacrylate special monomer factory

(3) The third-line project of polymethyl methacrylate production plant

In order to meet the increasing demand for PMMA in the market, it is planned to expand the existing PM plant and build a new PMMA production line in the plant.
The main equipment specifications and production process are basically the same as the existing KP1 and KP2 lines

(4) The polymethyl methacrylate coloring test line (PICOC) was converted into a formal production line

Due to the high demand for PMMA colored particles in the current market, ROHM plans to convert the attached test line (PICOC line) of the polymethacrylate coloring production equipment into a formal production line
