News on July 5, South Korea will complete one of the world's largest rotating solar power projects in November this year, with an estimated power generation capacity of about 2.
67 megawatts
.
Located in the Deoku Reservoir, the project will consist of a large array of
floating solar panels.
It is reported that the Deoku Reservoir solar project is designed to provide 22% and 16% solar power generation, rather than land-based installation and conventional floating solar panels
.
The project will be constructed by South Korea's Solkiss, which is simultaneously implementing two new rotating solar power plants with a total capacity of 3 MW
.
The three plants cover a total area of about 78,000 square meters and are able to supply
electricity to 2,300 households.
The new president, Moon Jae-in, has been planning to reorient the country's energy policy from coal and nuclear to a combination
of renewables and natural gas.
Renewables currently account for 5% of the country's energy, and by 2030, this figure will rise to 20%.
