Under the new system, the Department of Energy will reduce subsidies
for solid recycled fuels.
Solid recycled fuels are fuels produced from shredded and dehydrated biodegradable waste and recycled materials, and are considered less environmentally friendly
as an alternative source of fossil fuels than wind and solar.
The Department of Energy said it would also require large power operators to increase the proportion of renewable energy above a certain level to promote the use
of environmentally friendly resources.
The latest plan is to increase the share of renewable energy to 20% by 2030 from the current 7%, which will drive clean energy production to 63.
