Recently, Starbucks said that it will abandon plastic straws and switch to paper straws in Japanese stores from January 2020

The company said it expects to reduce the use of 200 million single-use plastic straws annually at its 1,500 stores in Japan

All Starbucks stores in Japan will offer standard-sized paper straws by March next year, and large straws by May, Starbucks said

Starbucks said in a statement that it will continue to explore ways to reduce the use of single-use plastic products in Japan
