Dutch transmission system operator Tente said today that it is working with Swedish utility Vattenfall AB to study potential connections
between Dutch and British offshore wind farms.

Interconnection between the substation at IJmuiden Ver, a designated offshore wind farm in the Netherlands, and a substation off the UK coast by Vattenfall will allow more electricity to be traded
between the UK and Dutch electricity markets.

Tent and Vattenfall will explore the technical feasibility, regulatory challenges and benefits
of this submarine cable, called WindConnector.

The two sides have signed a memorandum of understanding and expect to publish their findings
    later this year.

"The infrastructure needed to support offshore wind is a significant capital investment," said
Wind Gunnar Groebler, senior vice president at Vattenfall.
"We can optimize our assets with smart projects like WindConnector, which is good news
for the competitive, low-cost offshore wind industry, as well as for consumers.
    "

Tente CEO Mel Kroon and offshore director Wilfried Breuer said meeting the Paris climate goals would require a move towards large-scale offshore wind development, which would require smart solutions and international collaboration
    .

In addition, Tent and German energy company Innogy SE will collaborate on a wind interconnection hub system in the North Sea wind power hub system
