On May 13, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade of India issued a notice imposing a temporary ban on wheat exports from India, with immediate effe.

India has long been an important exporter of grains, but the country is also a significant importer of fertilizers global.

India needs to import about 30 million tons of fertilizers from the international market every year, of which 208 million tons of urea and 7 million tons of ammonium hydrogen phosphate (DAP) are import.

If India's domestic fertilizer demand cannot be met, the domestic food production reduction caused by it will be much worse than the reduction caused by climate reaso.
